Mythical concert hall in Marseille, the Dôme is a monument of Marseille which has welcomed the greatest names and continues to offer a rich and varied agenda.

Le Dôme - A must-see concert hall

Opened in 1994, this concert hall is one of the largest concert halls in the South of France with a modular capacity of up to 8,500 spectators. Located in the Quartier Saint Just, in the 4th arrondissement of Marseille, it is an essential place on the Marseille scene.

Its dimensions make it a quite visible and particularly recognizable place. The shape of the Dôme was designed by the architect Denis Sloan, to recall the hull of an overturned boat, with an arch nearly 27 metres high. Did you know that it has the particularity to have been made by the Saint Malo shipyard? In addition, the Dôme auditorium is located right next to the Conseil Général, very recognizable by its all blue and glazed structure.

Millions of spectators have visited the Dôme to applaud their favourite artists or discover new ones. Between its inauguration and 2004, the Dôme attracted nearly 6 million spectators. Thus, more than 300,000 spectators attend each year.

Many international and national artists have performed on the Dôme stage: Beyonce, Oasis, Céline Dion, James Blunt, Rihanna, France Gall, Florent Pagny, David Guetta or the Marseille group I AM and Les Enfoirés to name a few!

But the Dôme also welcomed comedians, such as Gad Elmaleh, Franck Dubosc and Florence Foresti.

It has even been used several times for political meetings and hosted many shows for children such as Disney on Ice.

In short, as you may have understood, the Dome is a gathering place that reaches all audiences.

And for your comfort, two refreshment stands are open during each event so you can eat before, during and after the shows.

Access to the Dôme concert hall is accessible to disabled people: people in wheelchairs, people declared 80% or more disabled and holding a disability card, but also pregnant women who have difficulty standing upright. To ease access to the room, an adapted entrance is available on the right of the ticket office, at the Esplanade Saint Just.

Marseille has decided to give it a little makeover and renovation work began in 2017 and should be completed by 2020, thus restoring all its glory to its unique architecture and in particular to its roof, which is being gradually covered by rust. After all, the Dome is now part of Marseille's history.
