Between city, sea and land, enjoy this refreshing hike around La Ciotat. Admire the bay from the heights of the belvedere and visit the Bec de l'Aigle, thefavourite spot fot the climbers! An easy but quite long hike. So remember to be properly equipped (shoes and walking sticks, sunglasses, water and windbreaks).

An easy hike with a magnificent panorama

The departure is from La Ciotat. Following the unmarked trail, you will cross the Calanque du Grand Mugel. This wild cove is the perfect place to take a first break for a swim. As you continue your hike, you will reach the Cap de l'Aigle from where you will have a view over the Île verte and the entire coast. Don't forget to take pictures! Retreat back as you cross the Parc du Grand Mugel. Continue the walking tour to the Anse de Figuerolles. Here again, the cove has one of the most beautiful beaches in Marseille and its region. Not swimming in its turquoise waters would be a real shame. Especially if you like to admire the seabed, the ones in Figuerolles are particularly abundant in fish and make it one of the best diving spots in Marseille. Let's continue the hike in the calanques to the Chapelle Notre-Dame de la Garde. This 17th century building dominates the sea and the landscape of Marseille. Finally, you will have to continue the visit inland this time, to reach the Sémaphore du Bec de l'Aigle. It overlooks the Calanque des Pierres Tombées. This one belongs to the calanques of Marseille and is prohibited to the public.

Discover the villages of La Ciotat and Cassis

Finally, you will go down to the port of La Ciotat again following the unmarked path. After a hike of more than 4 hours, you will deserve a break in one of Cassis' restaurants with a view of the port. This small fishing port, typical of Provence, is very popular and its beach is often crowded in summer. Cassis is also the starting point for a hike to Marseille. Why not plan this hike for another day and stay and visit Marseille for a few days. If you want to discover the coast by sea rather than by hiking, you can always take a cruise in the calanques. You can admire the calanques of Cassis and Marseille.
